Recreation

Boating and fishing are popular activities on Upper Twin Lake. The Lake reaches depths of up to 35 feet. It is noted for its tremendous fishery and the natural wood shoreline. Recognized for its clean, clear water, it is a haven for Muskie, Walleye, Bass and panfish.
For hiking enthusiasts, 800 miles of trails are located throughout the north woods. For those that enjoy quiet places, the forest contains five designated Wilderness areas and several semi-primitive non-motorized areas.

Motorized recreation is also available to the public, with approximately 300 miles of designated ATV and Snowmobile trails winding through the diverse landscape. ATVs are welcome at Blackiron Resort; with the ability to drive right from your site to hundreds of miles of the best trails in Wisconsin.

Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest
The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest covers more than 1.5 million acres of Wisconsin’s Northwoods. The sparse population of the area and low visitor use, make the wild and scenic beauty of the forest that much more enjoyable. Hundreds of miles of maintained trails make this area a paradise for hiking, biking and ATVs.

Apostle Islands
The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is a U.S. national lakeshore consisting of 21 islands (Apostle Islands) and shoreline encompassing 69,372 acres on the northern tip of Wisconsin on the shore of Lake Superior. It is known for its collection of historic lighthouses, sandstone sea caves, a few old-growth remnant forests, and natural animal habitats.
